Frequently Asked Payment Questions | Print |
How does online payment work?
You can pay your NEC Retail bill by electronic check or by credit card using our online bill pay . The credit cards accepted include Visa, MasterCard, and Discover. There is a convenience fee of $4.95 for credit card & debit card payments and $2.50 for electronic check payments.

May I pay by telephone?
You may pay your NEC Retail bill by telephone and for no convenience fee using an electronic check or a credit card by calling our billing department at 1-877-NEC-POWR (1-877-632-7697).

Why is there a convenience fee to pay my bill online?
NEC Retail uses a third party vendor to allow consumers to pay their electric bills online and for that service our members must pay a convenience fee. We expect to be able to offer this service directly to our members soon, under our electronic billing services.
Why does it say I have to have a "dash" in my account number?
This payment service is only provided to NEC Retail customers who have AEP, Oncor, CenterPoint or TNMP handling their powerlines. If your account number at the top of your bill has a "hyphen" or "dash" in the number then you are at the right place to pay your bill online. If you are an NEC member who also has NEC powerlines, you'll note that your account number does NOT have a dash, in which case you need to use the payment services provided at www.nueceselectric.org .
