How does online or telephone
payment work?
You can pay your NEC Retail bill by electronic
check or by credit card using the online link above or by calling the phone
number above. The credit cards accepted include Visa, MasterCard, and Discover.
There is a convenience fee of $4.95 for credit card payments and $2.50 for
electronic check payments.
Why is there a convenience
fee
to pay my bill online or by telephone?
NEC Retail is part of a not-for-profit, customer
owned company. NEC Retail believes you should only pay for the services you use.
As most NEC Retail consumers still mail their payments or use bank draft, we
aren't yet ready to pass on the cost of online and telephone payment services to
all of our consumers. If in the future, most NEC Retail customers begin to use
this service, we will consider offering it as a basic customer service and the
cost will be built into the rate structure. We want to offer this payment
option, but for now those who use it must pay a convenience fee for the service
of $4.95 for credit cards and $2.50 for electronic checks.
Why does it say I have to have
a "dash" in my account number?
This service is provided for NEC Retail customers
who have another company (not NEC) handling their powerlines. If your account
number at the top of your bill has a "hyphen" or "dash" in the number then you
are at the right place to pay your bill online. If you are an NEC member who
also has NEC powerlines, you'll note that your account number does NOT have a
dash, in which case you need to use the payment services provided at
www.nueceselectric.org .
